Brothers Gives Back to Women’s Bean Project

Lynn & Michelle (the Sisters from Brothers) Present a check for $1,000 to Women's Bean Project

Brothers Plumbing, Heating & Electric is proud to announce the Women’s Bean Project as the first Brothers Gives Back recipient of 2025. Women’s Bean Project is a nonprofit social enterprise with a food manufacturing business tied directly to our transitional employment program. One cannot exist without the other. They believe all women have the power to transform their lives through employment, so they hire women who are chronically unemployed and teach them to work making nourishing products that they sell across the U.S. Through their work at Women’s Bean Project, women learn to stand tall, find their purpose and break the cycle of poverty.

In 1989, Jossy Eyre (Women’s Project Fonder), was volunteering at a daytime women’s shelter in Denver, CO. She realized that while the shelter kept the women safe, it could not help them make lasting changes in their lives. To help the women achieve independence and self-sufficiency, she needed to provide an opportunity to experience the dignity of work by learning how to get – and keep – a job. She invested $500 of her own money and gave two women a job. Now, their projects are sold in nearly 1,000 stores nationwide and can be purchased online from their website as well as other online locations such as Amazon.

They believe all women have the power to transform their lives through employment and envision a day when barriers to employment are eliminated.
